Vigan City’s 2nd Year Celebration of Binatbatan Festival of the Arts

During the month of May, Vigan City celebrates the Binatbatan Festival of Arts. This year of 2021, the said festival was being celebrated despite the pandemic that the whole world is still experiencing. The said festival is also known as “Viva Vigan” Festival.

Last May 3, 2021, the City Government of Vigan together with the Archdiocese of Nueva Segovia conducted the Misa Concelebrada for this year's Viva Vigan Binatbatan Festival of the Arts and the feast of Apo Santo Cristo Milagroso or Apo Lakay at Simbaan A Bassit, Vigan City. During the mass, wearing of face mask, social distancing and limited participants are being observed in strict compliance with the health protocols. Also, on May 5, 2021 an on-the-spot Photography Competition was done to showcase the talents of both amateur and professional photographers. The event had concluded successfully despite the health crisis. The main highlight of the festivity was conducted on May 10, where the entire Calle Crisologo transformed into festive and colorful showcase of creativity and the extravagant culture and tradition of the Bigueños through the Abel House Decor Competition in celebration of the Viva Vigan Binatbatan Festival of the Arts. Various establishments and residences along this famous street showcased the Ilocano's majestic Abel Iloko fabric Since the said event is a contest, participants had exerted effort and all-out creativity.

Indeed, the Biguenos had celebrated this year’s Binatbatan Festival of the Arts successfully. Still, all is hoping that pandemic will end soon so that this festivity will be celebrated the usual way as before.
