Awareness on Global Warming and Climate Change

 

Global warming and climate change have both effects on physical environment, ecosystems and human societies. We need to be aware and be informed of their causes for us to do our parts in the prevention of their incurrence.

The Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) has different programs to help preserve our natural resources and protect them from natural hazard and calamities. Their programs includes on how for us to be aware of these programs towards the causes and effects of global warming and climate change and to encourage us to do our part for their prevention.  We need to extend our active participation for us to be of great help. As responsible citizens we need to know the concept, causes and the effects of global warming and climate change as well. Because of ignorance and unawareness of some of us we tend to do things that will contribute to their incurrence. In effect we all suffer for their consequent effects in our environment. The DENR is the agency with main purpose to prevent  global warming and climate change, is in active implementation of their programs. They want to instill in our minds that global warming is an aspect of climate change which refers to the long-term rise of the planet’s temperatures and this is caused by the increased concentrations of greenhouse gases in the atmosphere, mainly from human activities such as burning fossil fuels, deforestation and farming. When we continually being irresponsible citizens and keep abusing our natural resources, the disastrous effects of global warming and climate change will incur such as frequent wildfires, longer periods of drought in some regions and increase in the number of tropical storms.

We need to do our part being responsible Filipinos. We need to be aware and be knowledgeable on the concepts, causes and effects of global warming and climate change. When we do our part their disastrous effect may not probably incur and that natural resources will be preserved.

Vigan City’s 2nd Year Celebration of Binatbatan Festival of the Arts

    During the month of May, Vigan City celebrates the Binatbatan Festival of Arts. This year of 2021, the said festival was being celebrated despite the pandemic that the whole world is still experiencing. The said festival is also known as “Viva Vigan” Festival. Last May 3, 2021, the City Government of Vigan together with the Archdiocese of Nueva Segovia conducted the Misa Concelebrada for this year's Viva Vigan Binatbatan Festival of the Arts and the feast of Apo Santo Cristo Milagroso or Apo Lakay at Simbaan A Bassit, Vigan City. During the mass, wearing of face mask, social distancing and limited participants are being observed in strict compliance with the health protocols.        The declaration of the Enhanced Community Quarantine (ECQ) on March 15, 2020 in our country due to  COVID-19 pandemic had greatly affected our economy.  Some economists stated that we will be at our economic downfall that will have a negative impact on the business stability.
